F. A. Q.
Does Timberline need to see my site prior to quoting the building?
No. But keep in mind – Timberline will send a rep to your site prior to dispatching crews for construction. We have found that most of our customers are able to provide enough of information over the phone or by email for us to be able to provide a fast and accurate building quote.
Does Timberline take care of all site work or is that the customer's responsibility?
Timberline requires a customer-supplied level site to build upon. We do not offer excavation services, but we will gladly answer any questions you or your excavator may have regarding your site.
What do we need to do to get on the schedule after we have decided to use Timberline as our builder?
Contact your Timberline Representative to request a final quote for your building including all optional features you would like to incorporate. When the size and features have been determined, a contract will be issued. The contract can be executed at our office, via mail or out at your site, if preferred. We will work with you to confirm the building layout and desired color scheme. At this point, a 25% deposit is requested, which will lock in the price and start date.
What type of foundation will be used for my new pole building?
All posts are set on solid concrete footings which extend a minimum of 36″ deep for frost uplift and protection.
What type of posts will be used for my pole barn?
3-ply 2×6 glu-lam posts are used on all buildings with a 12′ or higher ceiling — the #1 post in the industry! 4×6 pressure treated posts are used on smaller buildings.
What is the wind and snowload design for my new building?
Code requirements vary somewhat throughout our coverage area. Our final design for your building will always meet or exceed local building codes.
What kind of warranty or guarantee does my new building have?
Our metal is 28 gauge material with a G-100 coating and comes with a 40 year paint warranty.
Will my doors and windows be insulated?
All doors and windows are insulated unless specified otherwise.
What kind of guarantee do you offer on your team's workmanship?
We prefer to let our work speak for itself. However, if any defects are brought to our attention within 5 years of building completion, we will gladly repair them at no cost to the customer as part of our Workmanship Warranty promise.
What do you use to dig the holes?
We use an auger on a skidsteer for most buildings.
How deep are the footings?
Minimally they are 36″ deep. There are a few variable factors that affect the depth required such as frost depth in your area, size of the building, etc. Each building is designed for the code requirements in your area and footing depths and sizes are determined accordingly.
Do you pour concrete to set the posts on?
On small to medium sized buildings we use a pre-cast pole pill. Larger buildings typically require a wet poured footing because of the larger footing size required.
What goes back in the hole after the post is set?
On most buildings we tamp dirt back into the hole for backfill. In some designs such as open buildings or very large buildings we will add concrete around the posts for additional wind uplift restraint.
Who applies for the building permit?
All required zoning permits and building permits are the responsibility of the homeowner. A full set of structural building prints will be provided at no charge. If your township requires sealed prints they can be provided by us for a $500 fee.
Can I get a picture or preliminary drawing showing the building I am looking for?
Yes! With our in-house design capabilities, our staff can provide you with preliminary drawings to help you visualize your project.
