How to Choose Your Color Setup

Think about how your pole barn will look on your property, the style you prefer, and practical factors like heat reflection. Lighter colors reflect more sunlight, while darker colors offer a striking and modern appearance. If you’re early in your planning phase, our Planning page can guide you through the entire design process, from choosing colors to finalizing features.

Three decisions, in this order. Getting the sequence right makes the rest easy.

Step 1
Start with your roof
The roof is the largest surface and sets the visual tone. In PA, Charcoal and Barn Red are the two most-ordered roof colors — both hold up in every season and contrast cleanly against lighter siding. If you’re unsure, start here.

Step 2
Pair your siding
Darker roof with lighter siding is the most reliable contrast — it’s what you see on most PA farms for a reason. Tone-on-tone (e.g. Brown roof + Clay siding) reads more premium and is popular on equine and hobby farm builds.
Step 3
Finish with trim
Trim and door colors are the last layer. Matching trim to siding creates a seamless look; contrasting trim (e.g. Light Stone against Charcoal walls) frames the building sharply. Wainscot and door upgrades are on our Optional Features page.
